Google Calendar Sync: Your Appointments, in Your Personal Calendar Too

August 23, 2026

How to connect Google Calendar to Tipulim: what is written to the calendar, what is not, how to block busy hours from booking and what to do if the connection drops.

In short: once Google Calendar is connected, every appointment booked in Tipulim is written to your primary calendar, and is updated or deleted together with the appointment. The sync is one-way, from the system to Google. You can also ask the system not to offer patients hours that are busy in your calendar. The feature is available on the Professional plan.

What does the sync do?

Once connected, every appointment booked in tipulim.app is written automatically to your personal Google Calendar — created, updated, and deleted along with the appointment. Your personal calendar stays up to date.

One-way sync (system to calendar)

The sync is one-way: the system writes only its own appointments to your calendar. It does not import other Google events as appointments.

Blocking busy hours

You can enable an option that reads only the start and end times of your Google events — never titles, descriptions, or attendees — and blocks those hours from patient booking. That way no appointment lands on top of a private meeting.

Privacy

The event written to the calendar is minimal: the treatment name (and optionally the patient's first name), with no medical details and no phone or email. Permissions are least-privilege — the system cannot manage or create other calendars.

How to connect

Go to Settings, and on the "Google Calendar Sync" card click "Connect Google Calendar" and approve the permissions. Available on the Professional plan.

What exactly is written to the calendar

  • Title — the treatment type. If you turned on the option to include the patient first name, the first name is added. When it is off, only the treatment type appears.
  • Location — the name and address of the treatment location, if set.
  • Description — only the appointment id. No medical notes, phone, email or full name.
  • Time — in Israel time, with the default Google reminders.

If the treatment type is set as a Google Meet meeting, the Meet link is created from the same event. See the video appointments guide.

The settings on the sync card

  • Sync active — turning it off temporarily stops pushing new appointments to the calendar.
  • Include patient first name — decides whether the first name appears in the event title.
  • Take Google Calendar into account when booking — hours that are busy in your calendar are not offered to patients. The system reads only start and end times, never titles, descriptions or attendees.
  • Disconnect — new appointments are no longer synced, and the permission with Google is revoked.

Frequently asked questions

If I change an event directly in Google, does the appointment change in the system? No. The sync is one-way, so you reschedule or cancel an appointment in Tipulim and the change reaches the calendar.

Which permissions are requested from Google? Permission to create, update and delete events in an existing calendar, and the email address of the connected account, which the card shows as connected as. There is no permission to manage other calendars.

What happens if the connection drops? If the Google permission expired or was withdrawn, the card shows that the calendar connection was lost and asks you to reconnect. After reconnecting, the sync works again.

Where do I connect? In Settings, on the Google Calendar sync card, click connect Google Calendar and approve the permissions.
